I can't really tell you what made me decide I was going to start a blog. Maybe it was because it's the "cool" thing to do or because I just want to share my journey from Miss to Mrs. with all of you. Either way... Enjoy!!
Many brides to be are going through the journey of planning a wedding at this time and they find themselves stressed to the max to find the perfect venue, cake, decorations and of course the perfect DRESS! I am so fortunate that I have had the most relaxed, and enjoyable engagment. I got engaged to my wonderful fiancé Ryan in Fort Meyers, FL on March 14, 2014. We had been dating for 3 and a half years and we were on a family vacation. He surprised me with the most amazing video, full of pictures of our lives together. At the end, it had the simple question: will you marry me? Thrilled, of course I said yes and the planning began. (Well officially began... Of course I already had a secret Pinterest board full of ideas for our dream wedding! Who doesn't?)
I thought I had it all figured out... After all, Pinterest is realistic right? Boy, was I wrong! Every little detail costs an extra dollar here and a few extra hundred there. This is where any bride would begin to worry. I think the best decision I made was having a long engagment. By the date of our wedding, we will have been engaged for 15 months. Perfect amount of time for any bride planning a wedding.
Here are some of the first things I purchased to get my ducks in a row before planning:
1. Stylish 3-Ring Binder- Target always has such fun and colorful binders. Grab yourself one with inserts to label each item you purchase and book. Examples: ceremony, grooms dinner, dress, photography, videography, etc.
2. Wedding Planner- get yourself a wedding planner! Save money and buy an app or a book to help you plan. This app has been wonderful. It allows you to plug in your budget, organize guest lists, record venue and vendor details, and create a seating arrangement.
3. Wedding Website - Join and create a wedding website. I have been using Wedding Wire and could not be happier. It is so easy to use and there are so many ideas. It also gives you a monthly checklist to keep you on track with details!
Happy Planning!
